As a 45+ year meditator, a meditation teacher, a tango dancer, and practitioner of many body awareness practices, I like to call tango a "mindfulness based embodied contemplative practice." It's not meditation, but for me it requires the same devotion to being present each and every moment. In meditation, only you, as the meditator know when your mind wanders, but in tango, if your attention wanders the dance is over. There's no faking paying attention in tango! I will be talking about this at the Tango Wisdom Summit, an on-line webinar. All three practices bring the benefits of mindfulness; being passionately present in the moment with full mind/body connection. To me the practice of tango has the further dimension of sharing that mindfulness and connection in the moment with your partner. True bliss for certain, when striving for perfection is left behind and awareness of each other and connection to music becomes transcendence or what I like to call it "tango heaven"! Thank-you for your wonderful blog.Sherrynoreply@blogger.com
